Khuli Loach - Urgent!

Hey,
It's Animation here, I haven't been on for AGES, sorry guys, been busy!
Right,
I have had my Khuli loach for ages now and he has grown rather large, but I'm downsizing my tank, my old tank had sand, and the new one has gravel (I am doing all of this for less maintenance, I have many exams etc.) I don't know what to do with him, as I know they often swim across the bottom of the tank, will gravel injure him in any way? Or could I just give him back to the fish shop?

If the gravel is round and free of sharp edges, he will probably not hurt himself. It is not the ideal situation for him though.

IMO sand and gravel have about the same maintenance requirements.

I find gravel alot easier to use, and my mum prefers the look and it's her house
It has some sharp bits...

ive found that as long as they have somewhere to hide they are fine with gravel. khulis like to burrow in sand, but gravel makes this difficult, but if they have soem rocks to hide under they are fine. smooth flat stones are ideal

I have all 19 of my Kuhli loaches on very fine rounded gravel and they are all fine, just make sure you give them plenty of rocks and preferably bits of bogwood to hide in/under. Something like java fern with plenty of roots or java moss is ideal a good addition as well
