Khuli Loach And Spiny Eels?

Probably all spiney eels, except peacock spiney eels, can and will eat kuhlis. The peacocks are much smaller than the others, and therefore have smaller mouths.
I plan on getting some peacocks for my tank, and I also have kuhlis. I was told there shouldn't be a problem with these two species, and some people have been able to keep them together without problems. Just to be safe though, I have moved my kuhlis to a different tank so I won't be taking any chances.

banded kuhli loaches will live happily with a peacock spiny eel

my LFS has 2x 20cm peacock eels in the same tank they sell Kuhli's from. They're not for sale and have been in the same tank as kuhli's for a good 6 months.

I have a 15cm peacock spiny eel in a tank with 6 banded and 2 brown kuhli's

I guess experience can be and is accepted as a base for good advice, but I rather think the mix would be risking the well being of your Kuhli loaches. Ive seen large Spiny eels, and have kept them in the past. Ive fed them live garden worms larger than many Kuhli loacehs ive seen.

IMO you would be risking the Kuhlis. If you get a small enough Peacock, it will work fine, but as it grows, so will its mouth an appetite.

Nice to see another Australian on the forum :good:

How big of a peacock spiny eel have you owned? The largest peacock eels i've seen couldn't eat an earthworm whole... or if they could they would have had to have been conditioned onto them..

I agreed that if you have either a fire eel or a tyre track eel then there is a possibility that it may be mistaken for a worm etc. Especially with a tyre track.

If you have a peacock or zigzag etc. then you should be fine.
