Overhere a number of pics taken by me of the international killifish convention 2025 in Asperen, the Netherlands, where I've represented our national livebearer society "Poecilia Netherlands" together with Fred Poeser (also co-responsible for the naming "Poecilia wingei" of the pure endlers). Our society had a share in this convention. I've also purchased rare livebearers at the auction we had. This convention took 3 days. So, I'm ready for some rest now after these days. And don't forget that the weekend before I had the Twentse Aqua Terra fair. With all the preps of both events, I was quite occupied...

I see you were hanging out with one of my good friends, as well as a lot of my favourite fishes.

In the European killifish shows, is there a fish sales section independent of the auction, or is everything distributed via the auction?

I would like to visit one of the European killie conventions. I've been to the American one a few times, but it has never looked as complete as the European club set ups. The big thing at the AKA was always what the Europeans would send. I know there are AKAers trying to resurrect the club now, but it had really lost the thread on distributing, sharing and exchanging by the time I stopped attending. I hope the AKA finds that again.

But it seems the Europeans never lost it, and those shows look fascinating. I could spend hours at the AKA show, going tank to tank and looking closely at the killies in the show. You get to see what the people submitting see as their best, and you see a very wide range of killies.

Since my main interest if African killies, Europe's proximity to Africa means it's easier to get fish. I think the days when there would be a couple of US groups exploring for killies are history now. It tends to be Europeans and Africans finding new species or replenishing old ones with new stock.

Fish group conventions are really fun, and I'd highly recommend them to people who can attend them. You see a lot of fish, and meet some cool people.

%$%$#$ I dropped the paper bag. Back to looking at killies and hyperventilating!

Beautiful looking fish! beer too ;)
Oh yes, those beer glasses were huge... And the beer was tasty....

True! One gets to meet up with several fish minded people at such conventions. And one is able to do some networking as well.
You probably mean Eleonore... A Dutch lady who lives in Canada. She's been at my home a number of times. We get along very well...
Btw, she left for Canada again today... And she's bringing some fish of mine into the country.
