Hi All,
After some advice re breeding keyhole Cichlids
I had 4 Keyhole Cichlids in a 100lite cube tank that were bred by myself about 3 years ago.
They started showing breeding signs a few months ago and 2 paired off and laid eggs which made it to the wriggler stage before disappearing. They laid some more eggs so i pulled the 2 fish that were not laying out of the tank and placed them into another tank to leave the breeding pair alone with less stress. They have gone on to produce 3 batches of eggs every couple of weeks all of which went while so were not viable.
I am wondering if the pair either are both female and the 2 i took out of the tank included the male that produced the original wrigglers or if one is a different male that isnt doing what he should be ?
I could put the other 2 back in with them but not sure that would help. Or i could swap them around and take 1 from each tank and switch them around?
Anyone any experience or suggestions.
Could it be water quality as i have backed off on the water changes to not disturb them ? Not that i have ever had a strict regime !!
images taken 2 days apart for the first 2 photos and then next spawn 2 weeks later again a couple of days apart
Thanks very much
Richard
