i've had some water from my R/O unit in a bin for a week or 2. I've had the lid on it with a small powerhead in there to keep the water circulating. I need to top off my tank now, but i just wanna make sure this water hasn't gone bad.

I would be sceptical about it. whta type of bin is it. I hope it is food safe. Many plastics which are made for commercila use contain many bad chemicals that leek into the water that you are storing. If you use food safe plastic, this does not contain any chemicals.

Id wait and see if anyone else thinks its ok before u tip it out. lol

i keep my water in fermenting containers and its often in there about 2 weeks with no power heads at all :)

if it was salt mixed water the yeah i would use a power head

it's a 45G rubbermaid bin. I haven't put any salt in it yet, but it is the bin that i mix my water in for water changes so there could be some salt residue from earlier

as long as its airtight and kept dark then it should be fine.

I used to own a pure water company here in the states. Air tight is a good rule, but if you have a pump in it, you should be fine. If you are really worried about it you may want to look into adding Ozone. This will kill anything in the water, keeping it fresh. When you open the container the Ozone will escape and will not harm the ballance of the tank. This was a number of years ago that I was in the biz. if anyone has found other info on the subject feel free to give futher info on it.

I make my wawter couple days before the water cahnge in five gallon buckets that my salt comes in and put RO right and a powerhead on it and put plastic over. this seems to be working fine but i don't know about keeping it at weeks at a time.

Ok, if its not air tight you need a pump in with it. It is the same as keeping water in your fish tank. As long as it does not go stag it is good wether or not it is an hour old or a month old, as long as its not standing it will be fine.

well i ended up dumping the water, there was a weird moldy smell  . A friend of mine told me to just pump oxygen in it for an hour or so, but the powerhead i put in there didn't have that "upgrade" lol next time i'll just try not to make so much water
