Hi buddies, For my 6 Cherry Barbs, I am planning to have a 12.5 gallons (24 x 12 x 12) with plenty of plants and sand. Can I cover around half the tank with plants? Would the plants be able to survive without additonal CO2 being given? There would be a 2 feet tubelight on top cover and sunlight would be got for around 1 hour. Also, which are the plants that can grow in these conditions?

Yes you can cover around half of the substrate with plants.

How many wpg have you got? If 2wpg or above i would strongly advise adding co2.

Have a look at the pinned topics for more information.

Thanks buddy. What is wpg? Sorry I am unaware what this is?

The more WPG you have the easyier it is to grow plants. However it also means algae can grow very fast too. With High WPG tanks CO2 is added to help plants grow which helps prevent algae growth.
