Hi,
So as most of you guys know I lost my very first female betta 'Emily' to what we think was colominus... :-( So now I have 5 female bettas - 4 of which are in there own 5 gallon tank and the other one is in a 1/2 gallon quartine tank.
What im wondering is if I can put my new female (the one thats in quartine) into my 10 gallon tank with a guppy, 2 mollies, 3 platies and a pleco. Thats where I had Emily before she died and she was ok in there. I was also wondering how many more females I can fit in that 10 gallon tank?

In a 10, I would say you COULD put one female in there, but if you want to do them all, I'd suggest getting them a bigger tank. Then you could put all of them in there and get more fishies for the 5-gallon tanks!! HAH, we are so bad here...

My stance is, never put bettas with anything else unless you like to gamble. Even female communities make me nervous, but usually they are fine. Males should be by themselves, or with something like an african dwarf frog or a snail. But sometimes the frog gets nipped at. Bettas should NEVER be with anything brightly colored or with long fins, or with things that nip. (guppies, tetras, etc)

4 girls in a 5 gallon tank is majorly overstocked, my friend. The 5 girls could live in a 10 gallon, but no smaller. Girls CAN live alone and be as happy as can be. Just get your girl a one gallon or bigger (mine is quite content in a 2.5) if you can't get the girls a bigger tank.

I dont think they are fin nippers. I have had them for a while and I havent seen any fin nipping going on. Even when Emily was in there, there was no fin nipping.

I dont have room for another 10 gallon in my room or else I would have the 4 girls that are in the 5 gallon in the 10 gallon... They are getting along great so im not going to chance anything. :fun:

I had a thread going maybe about a week ago or so and I was told that my girls would be ok in the 5 gallon if it is heavly planted and had hiding spots and it does... Also doing water changes often to and i do...

I think one of the reasons they get along so well is because 3 of them were in the same tank together when I bought them - There sisters! And i guess there nice because they accepted the other one very well. :D

The other 1 i have in quarantine she will either be staying in the 1/2 gallon intill i get another 1 gallon.

Oh and I also just got another female from wm. They had just got there shipment in and she was the prettiest one so I couldnt resist! Shes a redish color. I will post pics of her when I get some! Hmmm where to put her...

Any other advice and commets would be great! :hey:
