i'm going to be setting up a large tank 6-8ft with aussie predators, i already have 1 small barcoo grunter and 1 small tandan catfish, when mature will they go ok with barramundi and saratoga? what about sleepy cod?
As i'm sure you are aware Baramundi grow to enormous sizes and keeping anything with them will be risky as they are pretty near to being top of their food chain once full grown (crocs and sharks are their only real predators). It may wotk for a while but be prepared to have one very large fat fish in the end.
Saratoga or Australian arowana's are extreemly aggressive fish which more often than not have to be kept alone as any tankmates will be relentlessly attacked, you can try to keep one in a commmunity of larger fish but be prepared to make changes if needed.
Sleapy Cod are large sleaper gobies (Eleotridae) and should be safe to keep with anything larger than themselves, smaller fish and those that fit into its mouth will be eaten with no uncertainty.
yea, i know bout the barras, i have kept them with other fish before with no worries, i wasnt sure bout the saratoga but since the local lfs has a large one in a community tank with cichlids, thought i would ask
