After reading a lot in the "betta tankmates" thread ( http/www.fishforums.net/index.php?showtopic=96682 ) I've read of people doing crazy things like keeping two male bettas together (in a huge tank) with no problems or keeping them with neons and etc.
I know everyone says not to keep bettas with bright fish like cardinals, a nd since they're tetras they're nippy. But I still want to try. I have a 29 gallon, and I would just LOVE to see my betta enjoy that big space, but I don't want to dedicate it to him, I want other fish too, and I'm really decided on cardinals. But just to be sure, know this! I will monitor him very closely and as soon as anything undesired happens, nipped fins, dead cardinals, or anything, I will remove him and put him back in his little tank.
My question is, which order is better, to avoid most confrontation? Should I add the betta, wait awhile, then add the cardinals? Should I add the cardinals, wait awhile, and add the betta? Or add them at the same time?
Please don't yell at me, you shouldn't keep them together, etc... I already know this, so I'm approaching this with great trepidation.
