Jv Emporer Angel Not Eating Well.

Hi guys, bit of a long story but mum nd dad have an Emporer angel in their 100g tank. They got him about 3 weeks ago, but he is refusing to eat most foods. He started eating only garlic mysis when they first had him and shortly after took to mysis. He refuses to eat any flakes, algae gel, algae cubes, green or red seaweed. They've tried herb flakes - no interest! He swims to it, looks at it nd goes off!!

My concern is that he isn't getting enough nutrition from the foods, and I'm slightly concerned. What do you guys think? He looks fine, swims constantly, and no signs of illness or stress. He's about 3/4 inchs and charming! Colouration is also good and bright.

I've heard you can get special angel food but can't fin any suppliers in Surrey/s. London?? Any ideas where I can get some?

Ohh yeh, he's eaten the green fur off a coral, not sure what coral!!

happens quite a lot with large angels unfortunatly. keep trying a mixture of foods. but a fair few never settle in im afraid

Thanks Ben, any ways you know to pursuade or trick him to eat other stuff? I just bought some sponge for them to put in an see if he eats them.. He eats off the rock a bit now apparently.. Am I right in thinking he won't last long if he only eats mysis and brine shrimp??

Oh yeh, he has an Australian spider coral in with him that I fragged for them and he won't touch that. I love the spider coral and it's supposed to be hard to keep but I've had a great success!! Beautiful coral ESP when it opens up to feed!

Sponge even - not coral!!

Brine shrimp holds little neutritional value. But eating thats better than nothing! Try enriched brine!

Mysis is alright.

He is fine, still swimming around, still coloured nicely, still eating mysis and garlic brine only. I think I might have a plan though!! He eats the foods that are a frozen cube and picks them apart as they melt.. So I might try to freeze some flakes and stuff and see if ge picks at it then. He always gobbles up the mysis and brine. Funny enough I tried enriched brine and he refused to eat it?! Cheeky mfer.
I really want some angel food made of sponge etc but can't find it!!!

I've read that webpage thank you, when they bought it he was healthy like the website say he should have been and he is still that healthy, swims nicely around the tank and coloration is very good still!!

I dont know what to do?

hes probably still settling mate. Hes eating something which is good. try feeding smaller amounts more often. A healthy fish can go a couple of weeks on zero food.

They get fed 5x a day - different foods, he just won't touch anything other than mysis nd brine in garlic. I'm stuck for answers! Let's hope when the sponge comes he eats it. Although I bought the sponge for me, so a little disappointed!! Ahh well!!

Yea, it could still be settling in. But another thing could be the size he was attained at. It says that in the article.

Yes he is a bad size according that article - I rec he'll eat if I can find the angel formula for sale somewhere!!
