Hi All,

Does anyone have any experience with the Juwel Vision 180 ? I have heard the juwel filters are not great - if its a good tank, should I get an external filter as well as the internal one so i always have a backup? or remove it completely to get some more space back...

I wanted a bow fronted which is a reasonable size with a nice looking cabinet - I have tried to shop around as much as possible but can only find ones that are more expensive, I did see a Fluval tank that came with an external filter but it was a little more expensive?

Any Help would be greatly appreciated :)

Cheers,

Craig

i got a Juwel Vision 260 a couple of mounths ago and im well pleased with it. ive always had external filters and the one that came with it i wasnt sure about but still gave it a go and it seems to be fine. does the job well enough i think. but i wanna get a uv light which i dont think will work well with the filter as its internal. so mite end up useing an external one as well. at the end of the day tho im very pleased with it. good luck

the filter is good, depending on what fish you are trying to keep. For community fish its good. I own a 180 and can't fault the tank. I did remove the internal filter and replace with a large external, mostly for cosmetic reasons to be honest!

You can get tetratec ex700 for about £65 and tetratec ex1200 for about £75-80 both would be good replacements for the internal. Though depending on what fish you want you may find the one that comes with it more than good enough and filters can always be removed (albeit slightly fiddly with the Juwel) later and upgraded.

what is the fluval tank you are comparing it to?

I have a Juwel Aquarium the filters are very good they are apparantley the best internals you can get.If you're only keeping Tropical i wouldnt be too eager to remove it as it is very good.Whereas if you were goin marine then it wouldnt be any good.

I was comparing to the FLUVAL VINCENZA 180 - But I have just realised thats pretty expensive and doesnt come with a filter, it comes with the pre-drilled holes / pipes in the bottom of the tank so you can hide the filter in the cabinet which i really like the look of.

I think I would like to keep a few of the smaller plecs, a few Khule's (is that how you spell it?), maybe some shrimp and then probably community fish I think? I am not 100% what I can keep in a tank that size, i love Clown Loaches but then I know they grow probably too big for the tank - Need to do my research a bit unless anyone can suggest some stocking ideas - I have kept guppies, mollys and other community fish before etc and would like something a bit different so maybe not so much community (Sorry im a bit un-decisive, Im being patient and researching as a friend of mines tank was a disaster because he rushed it!)

I did want to remove it like you formyfish for cosmetic reasons, its not the best looking ever! if I was going to remove it because it was rubbish, i would do it earlier rather than later so not to disturb my tank too much...

IMHO it looks much better without the internal and seems to have loads more space. Don't know why juwel don't do a cheaper version without the filter. I'd had mine a few years before I took it out though, could never quite justify it other than for appearance. Good luck on the fish research.

I agree with you in that I think it would look much better - would be great if they did a version without the filter as their tanks and cabinets themselves look great!

I think if i can afford it I will go with an external filter :)

Any Ideas on stocking a Vision 180 ?

Hi All,

Just another quick one regarding the Vision 180 - Does anyone know what Juwel Filter it comes with (Super Compact, Compact H, Standard H etc) Cant seem to find any info on which one it actually comes with.

Cheers,

Craig

KimA,

Thank you :) - The more I look into the Juwel Internal Filters the more I think they are not going to cope lol - I love the tank and the look etc

If I had that Compact H Filter with a UV Filter (As the sun will hit the tank a bit in the day) - Would it cope with normal stocking even if I had a few messy fish such as Plecs?

I have a 260 and use a Fluval external filter, its fantastic! My LFS told me the Juwel filters weren't sufficient and since I already had my Fluval I didn't even bother trying

I have a Juwel Vision 180 and the filter is fine (apart from its size) and is doing what a filter should. I have about 60 small fish in the tank, very rarely lose any and the water is gin-clear with perfect stats.

I have the 260. Took the Juwel filter out. Got me a Ehiem 2026pro2 external. Brillient!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
