I have some doubts about the stand (Juwel 50/60) that I bought together with my aquarium Juwel Rekord 60.

It looks quite weak, and even now (when my tank is on it) I can see that there is small space (0.5-1mm) between the corner points of the aquarium and the stand. It seems that the wooden plate is not plain anymore supporting such a weight (60L of water, 8kg gravel + some decorations...).

So maybe some one has some experience with that kinds of things.

Another thing is: how many decorations, stones, gravel (approximate total weight??) can I put in the tank? Here I worry about the bottom glass of the tank.

Thanks for any comments.

I had a look at that type of stand when buying a juwel rekord 70. Didn't look to safe to me so I bought the cupboard type, which is a lot more sturdy due to the fact that it is joined at all sides. I don't know if you can get the cupboard type for your dimensions of tank. That one I would suggest is not very good value.

Store bought stands are cheaply made for the most part, make your own & save money, as well as having a better product. http://www.garf.org/ has instructions on building your own, scroll down the left side to the diy folder.

Any decent tank should hold more rock than reasonably useful. If you are going to load it up, as in an African setup, put some eegcrate under the gravel before putting in gravel & large rocks. This keeps the weight from being concentrated on one small pinpoint area. You can fill the tank with large rocks this way.

When I bought that one, there were no cupboard stands in that shop. And the price for the cupboard type is 3 times higher here. But I'm still thinking of buying a new one and use the old one for something else. The length of Rekord 60 and 70 is the same 61 cm. But the stand that I bought is for Rekords 50 and 60 (50 if you put it up side down). And the stand you mentioned is for rekord 60 and 70. Thanks.

Thanks for the hint. I'm not going to really load the tank, but was wondering because in Juwel Rekord the tank stands (lays) not on the bottom glass plate but on a plastic frame which is in between the glass tank and the stand and keeps the botoom glass only along the sides.

Just got the answer from the official Juwel Tech Support:

"Thank you for your email. The stand SB 50/60 was tested until weight of 1000 kg and you should not have any doubts about the loading. Very important is that the stand and aquarium are absolutely in balance. By the way, stand 60/50 is also offered for Rekord 70 (as shown at www.juwel-aquarium.com ). Best regards."

I hope it's like that :)
