Hi all,
This is regarding the pump in my 120L tank. I've had it a couple of years, and it now seems to make a fair bit of noise (I think this is where the noise is coming from, not entirely sure). It also doesn't seem as strong as it once was, flow-wise. Does anyone have experience in maintaining these, or am I better off just replacing it?

i would strip the powerhead down, clean the impeller and its magnet. give the housing a good clean too. if this has no effect you could buy a new impeller. failing that, its a new powerhead or filter i fear. juwel filters are not known for their reliability or their longevity.

Thanks for the reply. I will have a fiddle and maybe replace the impellor, see if that helps. Cheers

If it doesnt work I would agree with the idea of removing it, i removed the internal on my juwel last year, good move :) really opens up the tank.

Another possibility is the rubber boot, that has gone hard/distorted. I had to replace mine every couple of years or so, because it got noisey.

Ah right, yes the rubber bit is distorted, you think this could be the source of the noise? I'll see if I can find a replacement on eBay

lol they only cost £4.00 or so from an lfs. why add p&p?

I don't think they tend to stock the old type, which is what I need
might be worth checking. they may not sell that pump now, but there are hundreds about. i cant see LFS ignoring potential sales. well good ones anyway.

I got a new rubber fitting for the pump and it's gone quiet again! Great success! Only 2.99 from the LFS, bless 'em
