Hi I have been researching what fish to put in my tank, it is a 110L juwel rekord 800. I have a sand substrate and 2 pieces of mopani wood. I will be planting it soon. I already have 4 Harlequin rasboras in a smaller tank which I will be moving to this tank.
This is what I intend my final stocking to be:

12 x Harlequin Rasbora
6 x Kuhli Loach
1 x bristle nose pleco
3 x honey gourami (2 female 1 male)
some shrimp(probably cherry shrimp)

Any advice or suggestions on this stocking would be greatly appreciated. I would also like to hear of peoples personal experience of keeping kuhli loaches.

As long as you are vigilant with the weekly water changes (I would say maybe 30 percent?) then I think that you should be able to pull that off nicely. According to aqadvisor the filter is incapable of keeping up with that, but mine manages with 50 bristlenose fry  Also aqadvisor is a little more than inaccurate.
Never kept Kuhli loaches myself, you may find that they and the Bristlenose may have some scuffles and standoffs over food, but I doubt either party is capable of doing much damage.
I have no experience of them, but I think I read somewhere that Honey Gouramis can be aggressive if you have 3 males (Someone more experienced will probably correct me.)
I would love to see pics of the tank when planted, I coincidentally have the same tank, with two bits of mopani wood and sand with plants  I will be interested to see what plants you use with the low light. I put tinfoil around mine is desperation

My planned stocking (Sorry I just wanted to say) is

8 x Cardinal Tetra
2 x Microgeophagus Ramerezi
2 x Bristlenoses (M and F)

Hope this helps  :good:

That all sounds good to me except .... personally I'd replace the BN with something a bit smaller. An adult BN is a big old bioload for a tank that size (we're talking a 6-7" inch very chunky fish), and potentially a risk for the smaller inhabitants of the tank.
Perhaps replace the BN with 4-5 oto's or a something fancy like an L134 pleco or a small hypancistrus pleco, which will have a significantly smaller maximum size than a BN.

THanks for the replies, I've had a look at the 2 plecos you suggested, I like the look of the zebra pleco and its smaller size would be more appropriate I think. I am slightly concerned that I could end up with too many bottom dwelling fish. I am also thinking it may be better to swap the kuhli loaches for some corydoras as I have been reading that the kuhli loaches are very shy, but they do look really interesting. So any thoughts on appropriate cory's I could add, if i choose to go down that route instead?

Corys pretty much behave the same, whichever type you get. It's just the patterning and look that is different. So whatever turns you on really.
Alternatively, there are the 3 pygmy strains of cory (C.habrosus, C.hastatus and C.pygmaeus). These are all excellent fish, that fit in with any community fish that will not want to eat them (your suggested community will be fine). They are great for slightly smaller tanks due to their smaller size.
The thing to remember about Corys is that they really are much happier in a group. I always have found a group of 3 (absolute minimum) is needed. 3 has worked well for me many times. Others will say at least 5 or 6, but personally I have not found that necessary, although I have also kept corys is large groups as well.

I've been looking at panda cory's and think I will go for these, This is my revised stocking:
12 x Harlequin Rasboras
6 x Panda Cory
1 x zebra pleco
3 x honey gouramis
and some cherry shrimps

Another couple of questions, what are the chances of the cherry shrimp breeding out of control?
Would these cory's be compatible with a zebra pleco? or would there be some squabbling between them?
thanks

only change i would make to the above quoted would be to swap the bristlenose for an sae or 3 (crossocheilus siamensis). i would then plant with java fern and hygrophila (h. difformis and h. polysperma being most common). this would mean everything in the tank is from asia

Just seen the price of zebra plecos not cheap lol. May have to look for a cheaper small species of catfish. Anyone got any suggestions?

You could go with a lot more if you wished, if it were my tank I would up the rasboras to 20-25 and the cories to 10.
