Hi there, i have a juwel rio 400 tank, but feel the lighting isn't adequate for good plant growth, so what options do i have (i dont want to modify the hood either), so was either considering the i bar t5 lighting (2 bulbs ) at 110, or i have seen that you can add an additional two bulns to make it 4 x T8 bulbs on the juwel tank (but cant seem to see them anywhere), so anyone used the ibar lights? Are they a good fit? Or can anyone tell me where i can buy yhe juwel upgrade kit to double the T8 tubes to four?

Cheers guys

To add two extra T8 lights to a Juwel:

Buy a couple of Arcadia light controllers (I had problems with both my Interpet ones, so wouldn't recomend them).

Buy two pieces of wood 2" wide * 1/4" thick * longer than your tank. If you have a B&Q, they have decorative wooden daydo rails with cats and dogs embossed on them which are ideal and cost a couple of quid each (these are the ones I got).

Buy reflectors for the lights.

Then....

Cut the wood to length so that it exactly slots in the lid along the grooves intended for the Juwel lighting unit.

The reflector kits come with a nut and bolt to secure the reflector. Replace the plastic bolt with a longer brass or stainless steel one from a DIY store, drill a hole in the wood to fix the reflector to the wood.

Then the flourescent bulbs just clip into the reflector fittings.

Cheers
