Juwel Filter Problem

I have a problem with my Juwel compact Filter, it keep sucking my Orange Mollie to be fair he is really doppey.

What can i do i thought of fitting a guard but juwel dont make one, What about fitting a varible resistor to my plug socket so i could restrict the power of the pump a bit? would doing that mess up the filters ability to function?

I have the Juwel Jumbo sized filter. It has the same openings as the compact near the surface. If your mollie is getting stuck there I'd guess that the fish is ill. My Glowlights have no problems at all with the flow at the filter grills. The Keyholes like sitting at the grill and stick to it slightly but they can easily swim away from it whenever they want to. The only things that get stuck there are the bits of plants and the never ending stream of rainbowfish eggs.

I have a Juwel tank. It might just like it there? My male Beta lies against it a fair bit to and he's fine. Can he get himself off again?

You can't fit a variable resistor to your mains plug; the current drawn by your filter would be too great, unless you have got a big industrial one.
Even then the norm is to use variac which is like a variable transformer but these are big and bulky.

As you mentioned the filter won't work properly anyway; it's designed to run off the mains!!!

Iam sad to report the fish was indeed not right and died i think he was being bullied, my tank was good for about 4 weeks then i had an outbreak of ich which wiped out 5 fish it seems it be under controll now, the tanks been set up for 10 weeks now so hopefully i have weathered the storm and can enjoy my fish more.

That fish looks ill to me, also when I once had a black molly it had ick by the end of the week at only 74 degrees, i heard somewhere that molly's in general are prone to getting disease more than other fish due to thier excessive breeding habits. Also if it cannot swim away from the suction then that right there is a sign of illness...
