Hi

In the title really i am wanting to replace my juwel compact internal filter with an external, and was wondering if you can take the juwel filter out. I will be emptying the tank of water to change substrate soon, so i can do it when the tank is empty.

So can it be removed and if so how?

Thanks.

its easy done, use a wooden spatula to prize it away from the glass, then use a blade used for taking paint off windows, to remove the left over putty

I used an old kitchen knife to saw through the silicone blobs holding it in place. You have to watch the corner sealant using a knife.

same but i thought they were suction pads that had like ceased lol

Thanks for the replys guys. If you want to use it again do you just buy some aquarium silicone and stick it back into place?

yes but iv just put gravel in the bottom to weigh it down and then put the filter back in but put the black box/outer case on the floor of the tank so no need for silicone

G-clamps work pretty well with a piece of soft wood underneath the glass to prevent scratches or marks leave for 48 hours to dry

Go careful, I partially severed my finger when I did mine. Few hours in A&E as a result of my clumsy knife handling LOL

Yeah i had a hard time getting mine out still half full of water and fish the silicone on the bottom is still on there but covered up atm
I had a Hard time also when i had water and fish in the tank but was worth it.

The second hand tank I bought I made sure removing the juwel filter was the first thing I did
