Basically I have decided that I am definately getting a Juwel Rio 180 later this year :D and it comes free with the internal Bioflow 6.0. As this will be going next to my bed I need it to be extremely quiet! Also I will probably end up adding a 3d background too (the 3d box to hide the filter sort of ruins the effect).

I am almost hoping that it should be replaced, if so what external should I go for which will be super quiet and relatively priced, also I was thinking of seeding my filter with some ceramic media but I guess this would be impossible in an internal....

Please feel free to voice your opinion!

If you are going to take the built in filter out of the tank then your guarentee will be void. Juwel do a filter media called cirax which is ceramic. i think they are noisey if you have the nosel from the pump above the water line. Are you buying from Juwel or a stockist. If you buy of juwel you get the heater and filter media in with the price.

I am buying from another stockist, I can't remember the name now but you get the tank along with the cabinet, heater, filter, filter media and the 'high lite system' (2 flourecent tubes, one daylight the other nature and the casing/starters for them. I will look into the Tetratec ex 1200.

Thanks everyone!

Thanks Standby Setting for the point towards Tetratec, I have found that reviews on the Tetratec ex700 are really good and it seems to be a perfect match for my tank. The ex1200 was a bit too expensive and powerful for my liking, so the ex700 seems like a better option. The only downside I can foresee is having to cut holes in the hood for the inlet and outlet tubes to go through but my assortment of saws and drills should fix that!
