I jsut tested my water,

came back with 0.2 amonia
NO2 of 0.04ppm
NO3 of 29
and PH is at 8.0

I'm worried about the .2 amonia, and the 0.04 NO2

I dont get why its changed, the tank has been running and stable for a long time, and has been at least a year since something major has happened.

But the only thing thats different from last week is less fish from the electrical problem :(

I have a corry and only 2 algea eaters (cant remeber what they are, they are about 1.5" long and have a brown stripe on them, they are about 2.5 years old)
The reason I tested tonight is one of the algea eaters died sometime today.

I last tested the water 2 days ago, and everything was fine.

What do I do to make sure my otehr fish dont die?

Mate,

Could you possibly elaborate on the electrical problem you had? Was it due to a power outage?

or worse an earth leak for one of your power heads/lights, heaters?

If you meant that there was a power outage, and the 'electrical problem' you had was for an extended period. The bacteria colonies in your tank may have died, causing this sudden cycle.

anyway, let us know what you mean by electrical problem

I think if you do a sizebale water change, as in about 20% you should see those levels get better.

It may have been, as suggested above, that some of the bacteria died when you had an electrical problem.

How are the other fish? You said one died today, I don't know if your levels will have been enough to kill a previously healthy fish.

Electrical problem; Was putting the heater into the tank again, and must have forgot to turn it off, as it was going in it sizzled and then pop bang smoke and the lights go out, on above said fish survived that.

I dont know why the one fish died, could it have been stress from the other day?

I did a water change of about 25% last night, everything seem a bit better, bu amonia is still the same.

Possibly the fish sitting for a few hrs would be the cause, not sure.
Any chance you missed one of the unfortunates?

Thats what I was thinking, I thought I had them all acounted for though??

its hard to see everywhere in my tank without taking everything apart (lots of slate in it) and plants.

I dont think the numbers are super high, so as long as they go down soon should I be ok? even if there is an unfortunate somewhere?

I have 10 Kuhli Loach's I'll be adding in 2 days, are they hardy enough to be ok with this water? or should I ask the lsf to hold them till I get my water better?
if it is a fish would these find it and eat it? making everything go back to normal?
