So far I have two 4 line pictus cats. 5 emerald catfish, 1 albino chanel cat (going to pond soon.) And 2 sun cats. all are very small right now except the 4 lines who are the biggest at about 3 in. any suggestions?

To be honest im not shure. but from what i hear 12 to 18 inches. They are tiny right now now. but from what i hear they are slow growing as far as catfish are concerned.

umm your pictus could well start eating the smaller fish, or chocking on them.... I'm not so sure this is a good selection...

yes you have three preditory catfish there, pimelodus pictus, Channel Catfish (Also has posionous spines) and SunCatfish, Wave bye bye! to the Brochis as they will be eaten, very quickly by the walking catfish or pictus.

The walking catfish would prob also eat the pictus, and you will need a heavey block to place on the top of the tank, as channel catfish will push the lid off and escape. They are able to live out of water for a long time, and they walk on their pectoral fins. IMOP not a nice fish to keep. And a very bad choice of fish in that tank.

He was actually fairly polite. Moreso than most people would be after looking at that stocking list. Assuming the channel cat goes to the pond before it eats anything, you will most likely end up with nothing. The pictus or Sun catfish will take out those brochis , and they just might choke on the spines and die, then the Sun Catfish will get big enough and take a go at those pims, and will most likely die. Pimelodus have spines. They dont go down so well so you'll probably lose both fish. So if you're lucky you might end up with a pair of pims, of which one may very well be killed off jostling for superiority.

It may seem harsh but its the truth. In a 105 a Catfish tank can easily be done, you just have to have the right combination.

Maybe a trio of Limas, a few larger Pims (Ornatus are very nice), maybe a bigger Pleco or two. There are a lot of really nice options out there.

Thanks Severum, I dont see how my comments were not polite? I'm noit here to shout at or offend anyone, I'm here to give help, and also receive it ;)

I was basically stating the facts, and all this points out that you should do research before buying fish, yes that comment maybe seen as nasty, as I'm a little peeved that I give you advice and you tell me I'm impolite, but then I'd rather be impolite than arrogant... :grr:

its such a shame when people come on here asking for advice, and when you tell them what they dont wantr to hear they shout you down, and call you everything under the sun. When will people learn, probably never, after all its human nature to destory everything and themselves...

Enjoy the empty tank :good:

By you telling somebody that their fish are already dead, IMO is very rude. You say you are stating the facts? "wave byebye my fish are certanly dead? I could have been a little kid that could have taken it very hard. "enjoy the empty tank" EDITED BY MODERATOR All i said was try being a little more polite next time. I didnt call you anything bad or come close to calling you everything under the sun.

Can we watch the language please, this is a family orientated forum.

If it wasnt for the absolute rubbish advise being given out i would have issued a suspension here but to be honest i can see why someone would be insulted. Though the use of scientific names rather than incorrect common names may have prevented some of this.

Brochis are fairly large fish when compared to normal sized Corydoras and adults grow to a fairly chunky 3-4 inches, while Pimelodus blochii (4 line pictus) and Horabagrus brachysoma (sun cats) will happily feast on small fish such as tetras and guppies and some slightly longer but slim bodied fish there is very little chance of them fitting or even trying to fit a Brochis into their mouths.

Channel catfish are coldwater and do grow extreemly large so are a threat to all the other fish in the tank so the sooner this fish goes to its pond the better.

I would think that one of the pims or sun cats would go after one of the brochis before it gets full size. I've had a Pim Pictus go after a smaller Brochis, luckily I didnt lose the pim at least.

The brochis are very large compared to the other cats in the tank. So far no aggresion has been seen. Sorry CFC.
