Hi, just an introductory post as that seems the order of the day, i'm a first time freshwater tropical tank owner with a 15 gallon tank and the following;

1 Red-tailed black shark
1 indian glass fish
3 neon tetras
4 guppies

I did have more, specifically 3 angel fish, an extra glass fish and (ahem) 9 more neons and 6 freshwater crabs but there seems to be something wrong with my tank :( and so i'll be posting on your emergency board soon

:hi: to the forum, its gooood to have you here, maybe the answer to the deaths of your neons its becuz RTBS (Red Tail Black Shark) arent good tankmates with them :/ i would like to tell you that you need a separate tank for the neons , also 15 gallon isnt enough to keep angels, you need at least 18" of heigh like 29 gallons tanks, to keep angels, guppies arent good tankmates with the shark either, so i would highly recommend you to buy another tank.... maybe a 10 to start off or bigger (if you like) and put the neons and guppies in there, or a 30 and put the shark in there and another GOOD tankmates with him ;) hopefully someone will post a comfirmation to what i said and more suggestions,

GOOD LUCK!

edited: neither are angels compatible with neons (in my sig there are neons with angels) but i put them on the 10 gallon as i read they werent compatible

Thanks for the advice :)

I cant really get another tank, theres not enough room in my room (lol)

I'm not wholly certain the RTBS is the cause of the problem, he's quite boystrous but never agressive and spends most of his time chasing the glass fish, he generally leaves the neons alone..

I've been reading the forum and site a little and it seems i could have a problem with dropsy, the one of the guppies has a very large belly though not the pine-cone effect and spends all of his time on the bottom of the tank.

anyway, i'll not get into that here, i'm just really glad i've found what appears to be a really good place for chatting to fish lovers, none of my friends or family like fish :(

oh dont worry about it it happens the same thing here :/ some of my friends (in argentina) like them :) but only like really atractive colors, so... as long as i have brilliant colors they are fine with me (my friends) :p. and my family what they dont like is to expend all that money in fish :p, and the fact that i get addicted to things easily :p but i thank God that my family is like a zoo :p like they like animals :) and lets us have them as long as we take care of them

another thing i forgot to tell you is to check your water readings!

Ammonia,pH,nitrAte,nitrIte .

about your guppy is a female or male? if you dont know, the easiest way to kno is that the males are smaller than females , brighter colors, and longer fins. if she's a female try to see if she has a black "gravid" spot in her belly if she has that then she's pregnat :)

Actually Delores you don't need to worry too much about your angels and neons till the angels grow up. once they get bigger they MIGHT eat the neons.
