I finally succumbed & got a Dwarf Puffer. He is in his very own (fully matured!) 40 litre tank, with some snails, plants and ornaments to keep him happy. He is sooooooo adorable - he's absolutely tiny (dunno about Pea Puffer, more like Petit Pois Puffer) with big eyes that follow you around the room. He's called Mr Puffy (yeah, original!!) and I'm in lurv!!

Would he do okay in that tank with a couple of other DP mates, or should i turf out the neons and move him to a 55 litre so he can cruise around with a 'gang' ? Or are both these tanks too small for more than one?

Apart from baby snails (breeding quite happily in all my other tanks) and some cheap live shrimps if i can find any, is there anything else i should be feeding him to keep his teeth down? If i can find some frozen 'people' prawns with their shell on, should I give him some?

Any advice on keeping Mr Puffy happy very welcome....and you know as soon as i clean the glass you're gonna get overrun with pix!!!

Sarah

you might could get another one in the current tank; i'd swap the neons tho' if i was to get another.

is the current tank a standard rectangle or a hex? i'd leave it at the single for sure if it's a hex; too hard to define territories.

the rule is 5G a dwarf puffer, so in the 55L you could try and keep 3 dps, though the chances of them not getting along are high. I'd not get more than 2 in there.

I have 3 dp's in a 55 gallon tank with corys, skunk botia's, tiger barbs and a senegal bichir. They seem to do just fine.

Just make sure you keep plenty of snails in there for them! You sound like you know what you are doing :)

You have Dwarf puffers with a Senagal Bichir?

Once that Bichir gets a little bigger it withh try to eat the puffers which will then puff in the throat and kill both fish.

Puffers are not community fish.
