Well today we went to our lps to get some filters for our freshwater tank and we have just come home with one of those minibow 2.5 gal tanks, some more plants (i killed off the other ones - don't ask), and a new betta that my daughter picked out! I must say the colors are very interesting she calls him Polka Dots. Our fav lps clerk had him in a goldfish bowl with a cute little setup there and she changes his water once a week. They have had him there for just about 6 weeks and she said he just caught her eye, so she set him up in a "home" instead of those cups. She said most people think the ones that are in the display bowls aren't for sale, so we have them in there new tank and my red one (named Black) finally flared. He has little spikes of teal in his fins. We never saw them before AND his fin has almost grown completely back! YEAH! :D
I'll post a picture as soon as I remember what I did with the camera.
now I have to prepare an explanation about how another fish wandered into our house (especially since I have 3 pregnant mollies....)

take care

Very kewl newbie... a big welcome to the world of Bettas to your little girl! I wish they would transfer the bettas they receive in little cups into larger bowls.... don't the LFS's realize that the cups are only for travelling? Shheeesh :X
How are we as potential adopters supposed to see the extreme beauty of a betta if it's in an inch of water? Their fins are all scrunched up and they surely can't show off for us.

Ok now I'm off my soapbox... sorry

I'm glad your daughter has a mom that will let her spread her fins and get a betta

It's actually her 2nd betta and the famly's 4th one (But not the last!)

Thank you, and I completely understande (make room on that soapbox for me!)

I am so glad that we have at least one associate I can trust! She keeps buying ones that are sick or sickly and trying to nurse them back to health. She really is a sweet lady. I will try and get a pic up today of our new beauty (Franklin).

Thanks
