Just got a snail....

I just got a snail last night, he moves around a lot, eats algae off the walls, seems to be healthy.

This morning I was watching him and he got to the corner of the tank and begun to dig himself into a hole. I wasn't sure if he was doing it on purpose or not so I just left him alone. Now he is pretty much burried in sand.

Is this ok for a snail? Or did he get himself trapped and I need to help him?

Do you know what kind of snail it is, ncm? If not, can you describe it?

Many snails burrow into substrate though, so it's not likely to be problem.

Well, at the pet store it was called a ramshorn.

It is less than an inch in diameter now, but I think it grows to a max of 2".

It's shell is yellow.

I left him there for an hour or so, then moved him just in case. He is fine, moving all around.

I bet he just wanted to 'take a nap' or something.
