For a pretty good deal, I just picked up about 50lbs of live rock from a local, just a half an hour drive. His tank was very healthy, rocks look colorful and smells very oceanic, some have lots of metallic green mushrooms. I cleaned them piece by piece by rigorously shaking them in clean saltwater bucket. Currently I put them in a large plastic garbage can with proper temperature & salinity, overhead light and a powerhead blowing.

1) How soon can I add these to my tank which already has fish?

2) Do I have to do any water changes during this quarantine?

If you don't cure it in vats first, as the OP is doing :good: You want at least two good pumps in a vat to get the flow to all the rock  Test ammonia, nitrite and nitrate once a week. When ammonia and nitrite are zero and nitrate is steady or falling, you are ready to add it :good:

Cure times depend on how long it was out of the tank. It could already be ready or could take a few months

All the best

It was covered in wet newspaper for under 1hr during transit. i'll keep testing the water to make sure it's safe before adding.

I bought lr from an existing mature tank when i was setting up - transported it in water fro about an hour - it had little die off and was fine within a week :good: just keep testing, don't think it will be long
