Borneo Sucker Loach 5cm max size

common pleco 5cm but max 46cm, ( i will upgrade tank at xmas)

Gold Laser Cory 3cm max 7cm x2

Bandit Cory 5.5 cm max x4 ( bandit gold chase hehe apparently these 2 mix well)

3 platty fish, 7cm max

2 angel fish 15cm max

thats 96cm, at 1litre per cm, i need 96 litres then ? and the pleco can make it up to 140 but thats after 2 years too,
do i have room at 120l then for a few more fish ?

i feel like ive hardly got any fish compared to others, i want peaceful fish, no nippers,
but at 120l am i over or understocked? any suggestions if i can add?

january i am building a 400l tank to move into, so my pleco will not be much issue when grown

Ok... You are going by the cm per litre rule or as I know it the inch per gallon rule... This is a highly mis-understood saying and its rarely quoted right... The correct statement is: 1cm (or inch) of slender bodied fish per litre (or gallon)... So, this wouldnt apply to a gold fish, or an angel, and DEFINITELY not a pleco... Here, use this site as a reference and input your fish choices: https://aqadvisor.com/

Please note this site is just a reference and doesn't always take some things into account... BUT it is great for seeing how much room they take up. Lately the site has been adding aggression warnings and warnings about some fish prone to jumping...

The correct statement is: 1cm (or inch) of slender bodied fish which grow no larger than 7.5 cm (or 3 inches) per litre (or gallon)...
The full 'rule' contains this extra bit in red as well. It was never meant to apply to fish like common plecs.

Oops! Forgot that section! Sorry!

It's important to say that bit or we get comments like "according to the rule we can keep an oscar in a 10 gallon tank" ;)

Their not slender bodied.... So technically what I said covered that 😉

Hmmm, how about an arowana in a 20 gallon

Sill not very slender imo... Cause anyone would know its still too big... But then there are those stupid people who would put a baby pleco in a fish bowl...

There are members who would argue the point unless you quoted the whole rule - they'd come up with a 20 inch, long thin fish (something the shape of a giant kuhli loach) and say that the rule was stupid as it allowed fish X to be kept in a 20 gallon tank just because it measured 20 inches. We have to be careful to quote the entire rule :)

I'll remember it the next time hopefully... I'll try my best to keep it in mind
