Good evening chaps and chapettes, :good:

I have just found out that i have jellybean parrots. Looking through the threads people have mentioned that they may be a mix of blood parrots and convicts but how can you tell??

I have a breeding pair and am wondering how often they will breed?

Does anybody have any ideas about a good set up for having parrots?? Heavily planted?? Lots of rocks and hiding places?? Which?

Thanks in advance

:fun:

Theres no proof of what they really are but are probably BP x Convict or short body/balloon pink convicts.

I tend to think that they are just balloon pink cons for these reasons.

1. They act breed and resemble pink convicts exactly(apart from the fact that they are short body).
2. Having bred JB with BPs and knowing people who have bred BP's with convicts none of the fry were fertile or really resembled JB's(the only difference is that the cons were striped).
3. Apart from the shape they dont look anything like BP's(I have a balloon blue ram but I would never think its anything else).

As for care, they should be cared for as if they were convicts.Best to give them their own tank furnished with rocks and caves.Clay plant pots are great for spawning sites.

If you need any more info just ask :)

Cheers man,

That means tomorrow my tank gets set up with caves and stuff!!! Will go get some rocks and things to build it all up and post a pic once it is done!! What about feeding them?? Are flakes and stuff ok with veg and occasional live food??

Is the frozen live food just as good as live live food??

They will eat pretty much anything.Mine like frozen bloodworms and granules(tetra prima etc). But small pellets or flakes should be fine.
