Well I was cruising with my dad to the store when I saw a 10 gallon tank. It was in the garbage. How do I clean It?

Just wash it very well, i'm not sure if I would use any soap or not to disinfect it. If you do though clean it very very well to makesure you get all of that out've there and I think it should be fine. Goodluck and great find :D

Hi........I know you can use a little bleach, but I don't know how much is too much or if powder bleach or liquid would be best. I'd keep checking your post here and see if someone else reply's with my missing info.!!

Sorry :dunno:

Hope I've helped a little!

I would recommend bleach too. I'm not sure of the dilution tho. After the bleach, rinse with hot water till the chlorine smell is gone then rinse with a vinegar solution. The acid in vinegar will neutralise the hypochlorite (alkaline) in the bleach, then rinse again well with hot tap water. It should be pretty much sterile after that.

For decapsulating brine shrimp eggs, I use 2 parts bleach and 3 parts water. Then rinse with water, then a solution of 1 tablespoon vinegar per cup of water, then rinse again.

Might work for your find.

It's amazing what ppl throw away these days....I wish I could find an 80 gallon bowfront in the trash

Also, I would wipe the glass with bleach solution, not soak the whole aquarium. I don't know how the silicone will react to sustained contact with the chlorine.

this is the aquarium fish PICS forum... topic should be moved

use those tabs you get for sterilising baby bottles, then wash thoroughly with hot water

I to found a ten gallon tank in the garbage. It had everything including a AC Mini. (that was how i got started on fish keeping) i put some bleach in it and then filled it the rest of the way with water. then i let it sit a couple days and then i washed it out. The fish in it were all fine..
