Just emptied a tank that had been stood for a few months, no filter, no heater, no light, no nothing. To my suprise I have found 2 adult shrimps! 1 looks like a cherry and the other is white with what looks like a brown patch on the back of his 'neck' so to speak. They both have the same shape and size.

No idea how they got in there and even less ideas how they survived!

I've chucked em in with my other cherries.

Any thoughts?

Lol. I have no idea how they got in there though! I bet they're sweating now though! ;)

i used to have an invincible shrimp that i thought was dead, but was living in a juwel internal filter. that filter got taken apart and cleaned every month, the shrimp it seems just stayed in the bottom and enjoyed his predator free, warm, food filled home. his buddy jumped out of the tank, and i found him 6 feet away from it, barely alive. couldnt save him, but id say a shrimp that walks 6 feet across my front room, and is still alive, pretty nails.

They do seem to be rediculously indestructible. Ive seen a few stories of "Extreme Shrimp Survival" now. I think we should start a new pinned thread. "What have your Shrimp survived"? :)

It was me, I popped them in there whilst I was waiting for my tank to cycle. Now it has could you do me a favour and send them to me in the post, I am not up for paying £10 for 4 of the little buggers at my LFS

LFS prices make me laugh. You can understand it for the more fancy ones, but Cherries are easy to get a hold of, there always seems to be someone selling them on the forums. Mine appear to have bred very well indeed, and a few females appear to be berried up again so i am expecting a few more soon!

I have an amano shrimp living in the bottom of my juwel filter, for couple of months now. Every now and then it'll venture up to the top and sit on top of the sponges, but scarper back into the heater compartment if I try to catch it. Living the life of bleedin Riley.

Haha. It's suprising what these can survive. Honestly i was amazed to find my 2 this morning!

I cleaned out my 5 gallon shrimp tank two weeks ago to give them a new 10 gallon home. I started with 4 cherries just a little over a year ago. I did a head count...167! And about 20 of those are berried.
Last night I went to clean up the 5 gallon...2" of water in it and cold. I found 4 more shrimp.
