I just paid $70 for a 55 gallon tank (hood, bulbs, air pump, and powerfilter included) that the local bait shop is selling because they are going out of business. They are also throwing in all the fish that are in the tank, unfortunately all the fish are cold water except for a Jack Dempsey. They called one of the fish a sogger (spelling) Do any of you know about this fish and if I can release this fish into a nearby lake, or does anyone want me to ship it to them? The rest of the fish are minnows and bullheads.

The acquisition of this tank makes my list of tanks quite nice...
TWO 55 gallons
ONE 30 gallon
FOUR 20 gallons (tall)
ONE 15 gallon
ONE 10 gallon (sump?)

I am closing on a new house (old house, but new to me!! :D ) on May 30th, I am so excited, this is my first house! I can't wait to set up all these tanks and get them cycling so I can move all of the fish in! I can't wait to try out the waterfall set up that I have planned with some of you, thanks for all the help! Let me know what you guys think of all this information. :)

Thanks Tanked, You'll have to come over for beer and barbeque!

I am tossing around the idea of sand as the substrate for some of the tanks, but with so many tanks it might be one big pain in the but. Let me know what you guys think.

I just have one 55G tank which I am setting up, I have a 24" one which I am using currently for my displaced fish and the wife says that that will have to go back in the loft once the new tank is set up :(

The sand issue appears to be a common question, see the current discussion at Gravel or Sand , I guess it is down to personal preference & available time

Not real sure but you may be reffering to a sauger(sp) they are a fish that you find in lakes and such.....I think they are related to walleye but dont hold me to it

I'd love to come for bbq and beer but it is one heck of a drive. I am headed that way summer of 2004 though (wisconsin to see my dad) maybe we could hook up then, you could mmet my fiance (will be wife by then).

what about turning the spare room into a tank? hope you enjoy ure new house not shure i can make it to the bbq tho its a bit far

I understand that most of you are simply too far away to come hang out at my new house -_- . I wish that I could have one big get together with all of yah, that would be prety cool too talk about fish and such, while eating some bbq ribs or steak, and sipping a beer :drink: You guys will have to let me know if you are over in the eastern part of Minnesota, I am just off of interstate 94 on the last exit before you go into Wisconsin. Just let me know if you are in the area and I'll have you stop by! I can't wait to get all the tanks set up, and can you believe it, I think that I will have 3 20 gallon tanks that I don't currently know what fish to put in them!

Congrats on the new house mate  Shame your the other side of the pond sounds like your just like me,the kitchen in our house becomes redundant in the summer because we live on BBQ's,we end up feeding everybody we know for weeks on end

Too bad you live so far away cat fish crazy :/

Now is the struggle to keep the bacteria alive in the 55 without setting it up and moving fish in. I have to keep the bacteria alive until I move it into the new house. I can't help but laugh when I think that a fish tank will be the first thing I move into the new house the day I close on it, even before I move in a bed!

The plan is to move the tank in, change the locks in all the doors, then sit back and have a beer and watch my fish in the aquarium...I am officially, an aquarium nerd :hyper:

I am quickly becoming an aquarium nerd. my freinds who used to tell me to shut up about computers are telling me to shut up about fish... :fish:

cfc when's the next bbq - haven't had one for ages. It doesn't help that I live in a flat with no garden
