Just bought a snail and afterwards...

I noticed that a fish in there was swimming upside down. Is the fish sick? Does that mean that my snail is? Should I put him in my tank or not?

It's always best to quarantine all new tank inhabitants. Chances are the fish was just sick or had a messed up swim bladder, something the snail doesn't have. However, it's best to take precautions and to not buy fish from tanks with dead fish.

you have to be careful though, alot of lfs here have systems where all saltwater tanks share the same water, and all freshwater share the same water.

Those kinds of systems are dangerous. The locally own and run ones here are all seperate or grouped in no more than groups of 2.
