Ok then I went about this backwards,
I got my first tank (65l) from a pet shop with plastic plants gravel etc...
When I asked about real plants they weren't to enthusiastic etc... Anyway my tank is set up and running for some weeks with fish and plants from an Aquatics shop! might I add (not been back to the pet shop), But I think that now I should put a plant substrate under the gravel thats in the tank (its the small stuff 3-4mm) I'm not sure if the plants will root properly, They can come loose when cleaning the gravel with the syphon.
Should I add a proper substrate ?
If so how should I go about it?
