Just A Quick Q On Protein Skimmers Thanks :).

came home today from night out and my protein skimmer started frothing up yey. im guessing it works well!!!. been cycling for bout 4 or 5 days now and the cup seems to be filling up fast with a fair bit still in the main chamber, so when theres a build up in the main chamber does this mean that the top cup is full? cheers thanks. loving the colours starting to come out on the live rock too! awsome

yes, try to avoid over spillage into the main chamber as this is defeating the object of the skimmer (it's dumping all the nasty stuff back into the tank).
If the skimmer is too aggressive and filling up too quickly then you may need to turn the air down a little.

You can normally tell by:
a) The skimmer cup fills up within hours
b) The skimmate (water in the cup) is clear...it should be a dirty yellow colour (almost like dishwater) with a bit of an odour
