Hi! I think I've got a common pleco, albino.

Currently my tank is really clean so there's hardly any algae cept a tiny bit on the plants. Just wondering if plecos eat plant leaves if there's hardly any algae?

I've noticed one of the plant leaves have started turning brown and there are holes in the centre. Also, I've seen my pleco sucking (is that the right term hee) on the leaves.

Is the pleco the cause of it or something else?

I have only ever kept Anubis and Java fern with plecos and they went untouched.

What do you feed him?

My dad told me you don't have to feed them cause they eat the algae that's in the tank. :X

Was afraid that might be the case.

Completely wrong, although they will eat algae it is not enough for them alone

Offer wafers, fresh vegetable, with an occasional meaty treat like prawn or something similar.

Second question, how big is your tank?

What kind of fresh veggies can I give them? I've got other fish in the tank too so will they end up being the ones eating the veggies?

16 gallons

I have fed mine the following at one point or another

- Courgette (zuchini)
- Sweet potato
- Pepper (capsicum)
- Potato
- carrot

Can you post a picture of the fish?

If it is a 'common' you have 2 options

- take it back
- buy a bigger tank, 16 gallon is nowhere near big enough

I see. Will try those out one day.

Hm I thought fish only grow as big as the tank they are in?

If it gets too big, I can always rehome it to the pond with the other plecos :)

That is called stunting, its like me putting you ina box when you are a child and not letting you out.

Its a question of when not if it gets too big.
