this is (what i believe to be and what petco told me) is my bristlenose, but i am a little worried that she is a sailfin, as i cannot house that kind of fish in my tank. she also has 2 tiny bristles and thats it. i was also wondering (if she even is a bristlenose) if she'll attack my other bristlenose, who is a baby.

thank you.

That is 100% not a bristlenose. I can't tell from the photo which species it is, can you get a clearer one?

yeah definately no bristlenose
not convinced its a sailfin eitehr they tend to be pretty asa youngester with more yellow and spots in
More like a kind of common plec to me which would be huge but I;m sure a plec expert wil lcome along

You could try to tempt it out with some food.

not sure if this is a better view....

It could be a Pterygoplichthys disjunctivus, but I am not really sure.. It does not look like a standard "common pleco", nor "sailfin pleco".

^ Well, there you have your answer!

so i guess she will probably get given back to the store in a few months? my tank is 30g. will she/he (i can't judge that anymore) grow too big?

it is about 4 inches now...

Unfortunately yes, your looking at a 15 inches + fish at adult size with an ideal growth rate of 8-11 inches within a 12 month period given correct living conditions.

I personally would take it back to the shop while still small, it really is a hard task re-homing these comfortably when they are much larger.

Really is a shame because they have to be one of the most outgoing plecs around with there characteristics second to none.
