So after initially starting a fishless cycle i have changed my mind as my overall intention and goal was to have a natural and mildly planted tank. So today i went and bought 8 plants, some sand substrate and a plant substrate that sits under the sand, i also bought some liquid CO2. I completely drained the tank, (but kept some of the old water) washed the sand and planted the plants, then filled the tank back up and dosed with the liquid Co2.

I have an API master kit, so my question is do still continue to wait for the ammonia spike and the nitrate spike, then when im getting double zeros am i ready for fish? or am i missing the whole planted tank cycle thing or whatever you guys call it. :)

Sorry for my vagueness but im a bit of a noob so please forgive me :)

i look forward to reading any help and advice given

Hi, are you talking about the Walstad method? I personally think it's a risky way to go for a beginner.

Where were you up to with the fishless cycle, do you have any stats from before you drained? Also, what are the stats now?
