I had some extra cabomba left over from one of my boys' tanks so I tossed it into my girly betta tank. My lord - you'd have thought they won the lottery and collectively bought themselves a rainbow play system. They were swimming through it, up and over and around it and every single one of them hung out in there the entire night, and that's where they were all at again this morning.

It reminded me of Rachel's betta christmas tree. lol

So if your fish are bored, cabomba is a great piece of entertainment.

Haha My bettas have moved on from the betta christmas tree to the betta grass. I bought that sheet of fake grass from petsmart for like $12 and they all wedge themselves in there. Then when feeding time comes, they all pop out and gobble up all of the food like piggies. :]

LOL sorry to hijack, but I've got some of the coloured plastic tubing stuff you pt in with hamsters lying around. If I sterilised it really well can I use that?

I would say so as long as it's not too long of a piece - they could get confused and get trapped in there, ya know? How long is it?

I see those things in tanks at lfs's all the time so it should be safe to put in there.

Raech - so now it's like a betta cornfield?
LOL

hehe you never know its like "OMG MY BETTA IS MISSING! ..never mind it was playing in the grass!"

Oo, what a neat idea! I'll have to get some for my boys this weekend.

my betta doesn't have any grass or plants for his tank, i have java moss but he's acutallu scared of it  mine just lay around on the bottom of the tank on their sides :D , u'd think the whole tank just died or sumthing, but when u turn on the light they get up and starte looking for food :fun:

iv also heard they love dried seaweed as well, ill have to find something i guess, i dont like letting them sleep on those sharp roacks -_-

Just called 2 of my local LFS's. None of them carry cabomba grass. Where do you get it?

Maybe you should read that thread for betta amusement. Have you looked into getting them a cave or something to play in/hide in? Also, if your rocks are sharp, consider river rocks. Most LFSs carry them, they are so smooth, my fish love em.

I used the decorative gems from walmart. 1 bag is about a dollar or so depending on how fancy you get them and 1 bag will do 2.5 gallons perfectly. :) I notice they like to dig in them a lot and dont mind taking a rest on them at all. Be sure to look through the bag to make sure none of them are broken and sharp. I have yet to find one like that but you never know. :) Please excuse the blurry pics hee hee.
