Ok, I've had a look at the topic on Jewel lighting. I figure that's the problem, the lights do work but only when they feel like it 
Now, I've got T5 bulbs, 45w. Is the T8 ballast ok to use on this? Thats the only one I can find on Ebay for 2 bulbs. It's the day and natural bulbs I've got.. if it makes any difference.
