jewel air venturi kit

hi,i have a rio 240 approx 3 months old.i am interested in the air venturi kit and wondered if anyone could give me some more info,where can i buy one,how much etc.thanks.

Hi, I just bought the venturi kit for my Rekord 96. It cost about £6 online, plus p&p. I didn't just buy the one item so the p&p didn't seem too bad. You can do a search (I used Google) for Juwel products. There is a lot more movement in the water now and I actually can't hear any difference in noise level from the tank. Hope that helps. Just checked my receipt from Aquacare Direct and the kit was £6.95 and the p&p was £3.95. I bought a Nitrate Removing Sponge as well. If you buy one be aware that the blue part is supposed to be above the water line. I forgot that when I did a water change. I put more water in than usual (on purpose). Luckily the water level is not above the blue bit!

If you take out the powerhead unit, and its base mounting in one piece, you will see that on the underside there is a hole for the connection of a venturi hose to the powerhead.

Get yourself an air restrictor & a bit of 6mm hose, and there you go! No need for the Juwel kit that fits on the outlet of the pump.

Cheap as chips!

I have the Juwel one for my tank and I found that it increased the noise that the tank made. It isn't too bad during the day but the tank is in my lounge and when you are watching a film in the evening it is significantly louder. As a result I dont run mine.

I heard the other day from a mate that you can put cotton wool in the little air intake cap and this muffles the sound down to nearly nothing. He doesnt have a Juwel though (he has undergravel). Does anyone know if this works? the info would benefit us both.
