Had the tank up and running for 3 months now, and currently all water tests are ok, fish appear to be very happy in the tank and plants are coming along very well.

The only question I have is in regards to the filter. I do water changes every other week at the moment UNLESS I feel that one is neccesary sooner. Since I have had the tank I have not actually cleaned the pads / sponges within the filter or replaced the floss. I aim to do this within the next couple of days, the points I want answering are below.

1. Do I simply buy new and replace all the stuff within the filter (my thought is NO, because will removed the good stuff).
2. Do I simply take all the pads out and rinse in water taken from the tank.
3. Do I replace one part every other week (I.e. Floss this week, carbon in 2 weeks).

Any help would be appreciated.%

Hi m8

just clean them out in tank water till they start falling apart not all at once though just 1 or 2 at a time , for the top white pad just buy a big bag of filter wool, it will last a while and works out a lot cheaper than buying the juwel pads , in fact i find the waters got a lot less bits floating about in it after changing to filter wool.
