hi just got a jebo 178 hang on skimmer for my 20 gallon i know it is not the greatest skimmer. just got it running and there is a air hose inlet that you can adjust the amount of air when it is totally closed it does not seem to do any skimming when you open it creates alot of tiny bubbles and alot of them ed up in the tank. the skimmer also becomes very loud does anyone have any clue how to use this thing the instructions are terrible please advise thanks

Tweak the air valve untill the air bubles make it to the neck of the skimmer. Watch it for a few hours, if it starts foaming mentally, turn down the air a little bit. If you have livestock in there and it's collecting nothing, tweak it up a bit :good: Once it's collecting something, you want to target a nice dark skimmate. If it's light watery brown, turn the air down. If it extreamly dry, open the air valve up a bit. It takes a lot of fine adjustment, but once it's set, you shouldn't have to touch it again :good: If you get excessive air bubbles in there after it's settled down, you might need to look at bubble traps. Most skimmers will beltch bubbles for a day or two untill they settle down :good:

Well times9, if you have a Jebo skimmer, you're probably on my side of the atlantic, as they don't seem to be sold in the UK. Regardless, if I were you I'd try and return it. TBH, Jebo skimmers are cheap pieces of junk for which the old addage of "you get what you pay for" really stands true. The instructions are terrible because they're cheap Chinese knockoff skimmers with poor translation from a company just looking to make a quick buck and get their products in the American market. About the only things Jebo makes which are of any value are their canister filters and UV sterilizers. The rest of their stuff is not worth the plastic it's made out of.

Sorry to come down so hard on them, but you aren't the first, nor will you be the last complaining about their skimmers. I tried one a few years back thinking I could tweak it or modify it to work... I was wrong :)
