We still can't figure out how because the tank cover is new and all spaces in the back are covered with a strong plastic held down with duct tape but the JD apparently jumped out of the tank. And we still haven't found his body. I know the other 2 fish (A Green Sev and a Turquoise Jewel) didn't eat him.
Its really a bummer cause he was such a beautiful fish :/

:( Sorry to hear about your loss. I lost my 6 inch electric blue the same way....never found him. R.I.P. R.Kelly........

I'm sorry to hear that missy.

I've had quite a few severums in my time and most of them are mildly aggro but I've had a few that were pretty bad!

Are you positive the sev didn't kill him and eat him?

Sev's, like all cichlids, can kill on a moments notice.

I really don't think so. There would at least have been something of him left in the tank and the Sev hasn't even tried to touch the feeder in the tank with him. It would be really hard to imagine. They also are about the same size so that makes me doubt it even more.
BTW, we *still* haven't found him.

We went and bought 10 little bitty *maybe* .5" Africans and put in the tank with the Sev and the Jewel. They came out of the assorted tank and I haven't researched anything yet to find out what their names are. They are yellow with black stripe on the top fin, orange, blue with black stripes and some albino looking kind. I'll research it eventually and let ya know what kind they are.

The yellow one is probably Labidochromis caeruleus or electric yellow as it is known.

The others I have no clue. Given the fact they are only .5 in size positive ID is going to be tough.

They are more than likely Mbuna and at this size there are quite a few that resemble each other.

If you can, post some pics and let's see if we can ID them for you.

Like CM said, it's very hard to tell at such an early age, but I hope it doesn't turn out to be a Melanochromis auratus, Ps. lombardoi and Ps. albino zebra. Unless properly acclimated and in the right successsion they can be pretty aggro.

Like CM said, can you give pics?

I'll try this week to get some pics of them. My digicam isn't the greatest but maybe I get something up.
Thanks
