I've been researching to get a pressurized system for my planted rio 180. The only complete one I can find in my lfs (I can't do DIY and my parents refuse to buy online) is the JBL ProFlora m603. At my lfs it costs £280 and is sold as:

"Complete system with: 500 g CO₂ cylinder with stand, pressure reducer, pH control instrument, CO₂ diffuser JBL Taifun 270 mm, 2 meter CO₂ special hose, CO₂ non-return valve, KH Test.
With pH control instrument (JBL pH-Control), which automatically regulates CO₂ supply and adjusts to the pH level selected (incl. Calibration solution but without pH electrode!)."

The set appears to contain ferts too.

It's a massive expense though and I want to make sure that it's worth it. Do you guys think it's too overpriced. If so, any other suggestions? And if I did get it, how often do you suppose I'd need to refill?

I'm grateful for any input.

it is over priced for what you get...saying that i bought the same set 3 years ago. The Ph controller is woeful. The ladder isn't the best way to diffuser the C02, the bubble counter is OK, but a massive lump of a thing. The regulator and solenoid are the best thing about it, but you can buy one these of ebay for about £60.

I would have a look at the fire extinguisher method.

Cheers for all the information. I'll probably stick to the liquid carbon for awhile then. I did think the set seemed massively overpriced but I'm too lazy to buy all the separate parts

Thats the problem with me, i just wanted it...and couldn't be bothered to wait. I spent the next three months buying the extra bits like a glass diffuser, glass bubble counter and a glass drop checker. I got them all for about £25, so in hindsight, i would advocate buying them separately.

lol I'll definitely keep that in mind - see if I can persuade the parents that buying stuff online isn't a con to get your bank numbers
