I thought I would say that I got this filter from here http/www.zooplus.co.uk/shop/fish/filters...ters/jbl/102999 on with the filter I found it stupidly easy to set up no problems what so ever build quality is up there with my Eheim 2073.The JBL had no problems starting I filled it with water hooked up the hoses put the power on and one push of the primer and it was away.It has good flow,its silent,easy to clean the media baskets has fold away handles a great idea,lots of media and fittings and a 4-year warranty.If your needing a new external please consider this one it has to be the easiest filter I have set up along with my Eheim 2073 on my 200 liter tank the water is crystal clear as well love it

'I have same filter running on shop display tank (osaka 260) its really good, the only thing that bugged me was the bloomin clips from the filter to the top half/lid of it, they come off really easily which isnt helped by the fact that it is a wide little filter and a narrow little cuboard that its in.

Other than that its good, would have liked more media capacity but i have a habit of putting too much in lol. I have less sponges because i have a tray of JBL Tormec (peat pellets) to soften the water (and my god did it work fast!) plus JBLs BioNitrateEx and a sachet of carbon but it all fit in with the ceramics and most of the sponges.

Just bought the e1500 from the same shop. On offer at £99 was too good a price to turn down. Arrived in about 3 days. Seems well built and like you say with a 4 year warrenty should be ok, at least as good as the other,better know German filter maker.

I was looking at these with a view to buy one. What size tank have you put yours on and how good is the flow

Mine is on my Juwel Rio 300. Seems to have a good flow, not measured it or anything, was going to but ran out of time as i had to get the tank empty again to finish fitting it out. Was very quite, in fact i couldnt hear it with the cupboard door closed. Primed really easy too. Pleased with it so far - time will tell though i guess.

Pleased to hear it - I looked at JBL prior to buying an Eheim 2075 but couldn't find many opinions on them.

i too was looking for ages for some info on them and in the end i went out and bought the tetratec ex1200, have jbl been around a long time?

The e1500 is 9.5" wide, 9" deep and 19" high.

just wondered (before i buy) how are you getting on with this filter,

Don't know how much help i can be with that question as i have only just started cycling the tank at the moment. Flow seems good, plenty of surface movement, i used the fan type outlet rather than the spraybar as my oh said the noise of the spraybar was anooying her. i have taken out one of the sponges in the 2nd basket and replaced it with some eheim substrat pro. Very quiet and pleased so far though.
