I have 2 Java Ferns connected to an ornament in my 30 gallon tank. They both turned brown and there is holes all through the leaves some if them have broken/fell off? The roots look fine but the leaves look dead. I have low light 35 watts. But Java Fern is the best for low light right?

What is the problem?
How do I fix it??
Please help.

It could be that the java fern was grown under much higher levels of light, now that it has to cope a low light enviroment, and now its loosing its leaves to later grow new leaves that can cope better with low light levels.

or not?

My java fern did the same thing after I purchased it. Several weeks later however, dozens of new plantlets began to form on the older darkened leaves. A couple months later, it started looking much better as the bright green plantlets took over. Mine are growing under very low light conditions, yours may come back much more quickly. Be patient, they are slow growers
