how big would a jardini aro get too? and would he be okay to live in a 5' x 3' x 2' tank for long?

Jardini Arows can get to about 24".

Personally, I think he would be 'ok' in a tank that size, its abit short in the length though. Be careful what you put him with, as they get pretty rowdy as they get older.

I have a tank of similar size and yet I have been told on several occasions that it would be unsuitable for an aro such as a jardini. I'm not sure if I would chance keeping it as they can be difficult to get rid of once they get so big. As not many people can home full sized ones.

Yeah dont go with a jardini cos, even some mean catfish get killed by them they are soooo mean. id say get a silver or a black arow grow it and sell it im doing that.

Ringham going by your profile your biggest tank is the Juwel Vision 450 which is basically a 5x2x2 and as it's a bowfront it's only about 20" wide at the sides. Which deffinately isn't big enough for a fully grown asian or jardini arowana.

monkey_fish your tank is fine for either a asian or jardini for life, although when buying a jardini bear in mind your extremely limited to tank mates.

Hiya Paul_MTS,

I realise that I would never be able to home a full sized aro but i was thinking of keeping one until it grew too big and then sell it, as Rust is doing.

i dont understand why people wanna raise a fish which is gonna outgrow their tank :/ wont you get attached to it making it hard to part with?plus its stressful for fish being moved from here to there

sorry ringham, the way you wrote your reply said that his tank was a similiar size tank to yours....which it isn't!

if you know you have somewhere to take a 18" aro everytime you outgrow one then fine go ahead with growing one on but don't expect lots of money for a silver as quite frankly there worthless to shops!

If how ever u get a black and grow it on it would be worth a touch more.

Canes right though, depending on the fishes temperament it's going to be a pain in the arse to move a 18" aro. Letting go of a fish you'ved raised from a young fish for 1.5years isn't an easy task.
