Anybody use one of these in their system?
http://www.aquaessentials.co.uk/index.php?...roducts_id=1694

And I quote:
Latest C02 Technology from Japan

Specially Design External Co2 system that totally dissolves Co2 into your aquarium water

Easy to install, built in a exhaust button for waste gas

Check Valve included to protect over flow to tank

Normal Diffusers do not compare with this piece of equipment - no more C02 bubbles in your tank, complete C02 diffusion and it can also be hidden away in your cabinet

30 quid seems an awful lot for what looks to me like a plastic bottle with 2 plastic tubes in it.

Does anyone know how these things work & are they worth the £30 asking price?

Thanks in advance,

Andy

They were on eBay from abroad at ~£20....good reviews I believe, George Farmer has one somewhere but never seen any comments.

Thanks guys.

OK, not great then, but that's purely down to build quaity. I am really interested in the design concept: Do you know how these things work?

I think the same as most reactors but in a different layout....from what I recall there is some form of water circulation around the 'tub' and the CO2 is not simply pumped in in large bubbles but has some kind of diffuser or similar....I could be wrong though! Strange about the comments on build quality, the initial comments made were, I think, good regarding build quality.

Someone over in the UK really needs to start selling a variety of external reactors, I am itching for a decent one for my tank but am reluctant to try making one - can't be too hard though I guess, maybe over Christmas!

eBay sellers of Jaqno product:

Still £25 delivered though - cheeky, £5 for item and £20 for postage! There is a very large image on there, to me it looks pretty well put together?

Cheaper from different seller:

In US dollars, works out ~£20 delivered.

Knew I'd seen a similar thing somewhere else. Trust ebay!

Now they look good

Hmm, I'm mystified (pardon the pun) how these things are an improvement.

They appear to be venturi reactors (which are the best IMO), but without the vernturi part!

You're just stuffing CO2 into swirly water. That was part of Tom Barr's DIY venturi reactor design if memory serves.

My thoughts are: that design could be improved on possibly....

I believe the idea is that the CO2 sits at the top of the container and dissolves as water passes by, ie there is just one large bubble at the top. Theres also a pressure release valve stop too much pressure building up.

I may well try one from eBay next month, need some silicon piping for my filter though, cannot squeeze anything else easily under my teeny tank without kinking the tubes...
