Thought i'd post up some new pics as Jake is changing SOOO much! He's getting his brown neck feathers, and the speckly belly, he's going to be soooo pretty :D He's also picked up loads of words in the two and a half weeks i've had him! Every morning before he has his ready brek we have to have a big conversation about everything..

anyway, here he is after his shower yesterday

Aren't they cute!? :D

Ahhhh they are lovely  do they ever hang out with the lovebirds ?

Not a comparison I know, but I had a mynah that used to take showers with me ! Came hopping into the bathroom squawking his head off - jump onto the rim of the bath and then flew up to my shoulder for a shower with me - while rolling his little eyes in ecstacy and spreading his wings and telling me the morning's latest gossip  I do miss him :-(

Thanks! :D

Jake whistles in the shower, he gets really ecited about it! I cant take Ozzy in cos he gets angry.. He prefers to bath in his water bowl

Ozzy's cage is net door to the lovebirds so they all spend time out together.. I dont think Jake understands that the little, pretty things are birds and must not be eaten.. He picked the little blue one up by her tail last time i had them out together, so i've kept them seperated since  He wouldn't dream of hurting anything, but he's got such a big beak, and hes so clumsy i wouldn't want to risk it

Mynah's are lovely birds! I've heard they can be great little characters, i've never had any experience with them myself though.. Yours certainly sounded very sweet and tame though bloozoo.. So sorry you lost him :( Are you not tempted to get another?

I really would love to ! It's just astounding how incredibly tame they get and talk so quickly. And so very attached to their human companion. It's mind blowing. And just cuteness galore  but a 2 bed maisonette with a number of tanks and a cat is just a no-go area for a bird that requires a lot of space. Fingers crossed when we have a house in a year, I'll have lots more space to incorporate a feathered friend. I've been working on the bf, and when I mention "bird" he no longer has the firm "don't go there" look - but says "we'll see" :shifty:

I love them both, They both are very pretty very pretty. Can you all really get those birds to take showers???

mine Mynah did  and loved it - but of course I couldn't have it on full blast ! I just had it on a very light and fine setting - so not to blast the poor bird off my shoulder. But he actually complained if he heard me take a shower and wasn't allowed to join in !

And in the morning at the break of dawn (something around 4am ! ) he'd start chirping to be let out of his cage. But he soon realised that I wasn't going to give him any action or entertainment at 4am, so he hopped into bed with me and just nuzzled in the crook of my neck - very very softly chirping away and playing with my hair.
I knew he got fedup when he started pecking ever so lightly at my eye lashes - obviously meaning it's definitely now time for me to wake up and entertain him
They really are totally amazing birds.

I just always have wondered if they really took showers or not so I thought I would ask. I would love to see pictures of one in the shower that would be awsome. :hey: And a winner in my book if you ask me.. :hey: :p

Sadly that was about 10 years ago and not in the digi cam age for me - so I'll have to see if I can dig up some old film pics and scan them in - though that will be a job for another day !

But I do think they younger they are when you get them, the more likely they are to bond and take to hand taming. A young adult will be very difficult and a wild caught adult bird simply won't have any of it.

Thank you for the nomination :D

Jake goes in the shower all the time, but i had an African Grey who HATED going in the shower, or even being misted so i used to have to stick her in the sink and turn the tap on  I guess some just dont like water

Oooh, i hadn't noticed the second nom! Thanks :D Shall have to enter them in the comp :)

Here's some more pics of Jake and Ozzy. Jake's colour is coming through even more

I think my birds are oficially spoilt!! I spent over £20 today on 'exotic' fruit, veg and nuts today  At least they'll be eating well. Their dinner tonight was passion fruit, pomegranite, sharon fruit, fig, strawberries and apple! :D
