Hello, I am new to the forum. A few months ago, I bought a young Jaguar Catfish (Liosomadoras oncinus) I own 2 tropical fish tanks: a 29 gallon which he is in right now (for grow out), and a well-stocked 75 gallon. I've seen various accounts of different maximum sizes (8-11.8 in) as well as minimum tank sizes, ranging from 40-80+ gallons. I know that these catfish are a long-term commitment, as they can live up to 20 years, and I'd like to keep him right. Also, I rarely see him as he is always hiding. Will a 75-gallon work as a permanent home for him when he is full grown? Thank you!

I've not kept the species and defer to those who might have. But I have read that they are nocturnal and prefer the company of others of their own species as opposed to being alone, so that might explain his present behavior.

Thank you, I appreciate it a lot! They are quite expensive but I'll keep the idea open!

Hi, great to have you joined... :hi:
Don't be a stranger and post some pics of your fish when it's not hiding anymore...
