My mom has a miniature pinscher/pekonese cross that does the same thing. It is so funny to watch, she won't let go. Does he ask to have the toy? My mom's dog Mojo, will bring the toy to her so she can hang off it.

He is naughty, VERY naughty. He loves his food, well, any food, which is helpful with training. We have taught him to wait for his dinner, to do his business in the garage (since he is an inside dog), to sit before crossing the road etc. etc. But when hes on the hunt or the chase he can be hard to stop/contain. Exercising him a lot helps with the naughtiness, cause he is too tired to create mischief, which is what he will do if bored.

We were told not to get a JRT because of the constant maintenance, but I can't imagine having any other dog now. So much so we are getting another one :hyper: We heard so many bad things about them and I guess, in a way, took a chance. I have had many breeds of dogs and he would have to be the most intelligent, loving, loyal dog I have had. I have been sick for a week now and around me he has been SOOO well-behaved...its almost like he knows!!!! He barks at the cat when she goes near the fish tanks and makes sure she is in her place when I do tank maintenance.

Hehe sounds like my Spike  He loves food too, people food that is! When it comes to dog food, he is a very picky eater. We are trying though. I was also told not to get one, especially because I have 4 cats. I was told since they are hunters by nature, it would only be a matter of time till he kills them. So far its been almost 4 years, and except for the occasional chase around the room to make a cat leave, we have had no problems. As a matter of fact we found 2 day old abandoned kittens that he was a mother to. He slept with them, cleaned them, barked when they needed something, and as soon as they started to walk about a little more, he was there picking them up and putting them back into their basket. If he could have nursed them he would have  I have grown up around lots of dogs, as my uncle is a breeder, and I wouldn't get another kind of dog.

LOL. Yeah, Mac keeps the cat in her place. She is allowed behind the blinds, in the bathroom and on the beanbag. Anywhere else is a no go zone for her as far as hes concerned :p Its funny in the morning though, as he sleeps with us and she sleeps in the bathroom. When we open the door to let her out he is first in there to give her a kiss

Right now he is amt my feet wimpering cause I am eating ice cream. He knows e will get some eventually he just hates the wait!!!

He's adorable!

I don't think it's so much "bad" things about JRTs, they can be amazing little dogs! But I think they certainly can be more of a terror if they have owners who don't have the time and energy for them that they need. :) Your guy looks very happy!

They are sweet dogs. I know he will kiss ( and sniff) the cats all the time. As for the cats, I don't think they love him as much as he loves them

BTW I personally have tons of time for my dog. I am a stay at home mom, and he gets lots and I mean lots of attention from my twins. :D If a dog is bred to be a hunter, thats is what they are in some form. Most people who had the breed origanlly used them to hunt. It has become part of their genetics. They were used to hunt small animals. It is only natural, that it be a semi-dominant trait in that breed, and even though most people don't use them for hunting anymore it is almost impossible for those traits to not manifest themselves in some form or another. I know quite a few people who have Jack Russels and cats, and they all chase their cats and try to keep them in check. They also spend plenty of time with their dogs.
